Here’s a kick drum shoot out that a friend of mine sent me via email. I thought it was well done and very helpful. Thought you guys might like it.

Thanks to Jesse Gimbel for a great video and thanks to Richard McBrayer for letting us know about it.
Hi Kevin,
One of the best tests and arrangements. Very helpful for both drummers and mixers.
Thanks a lot

Thanks Tass. I thought it was good too. Did you have a favorite?
Thanks Guys! Very cool and informative, time well spent. Makes me wanna go buy a Mic!
I’ve always used the d112. I love the sennheiser tho
Hey Kevin Thanks for this. I just recently purchased a Beta
91A and used it in my kick drum the other night. Awesome mic! Has
even got an EQ switch to get of those low-mid nasties. It’s great
for live work. Am yet to use it recording and will probably try it
along side my D112.
Seems like when I used the shure, there was a lot of bleed. Is that the case with you Mark?
I’ve always loved the way a D112 sounds. Pretty impressed with the sennheiser though.
Thanks Mark
Hey Kevin
Ah ok – nah I didn’t notice that. I had it on the inside of the kick drum by the batter head. Next time I have it set up I’ll take a look.
I haven’t watched the video yet, but I wanted to let you guys know that I’ve had a chance to try out the new AKG D12vr kick drum mic, and I love it. It’s got the EQ curves built in, and they seem pretty spot on. I haven’t had a chance to try it on a big rock kick yet, but on the jazz and big band kits I’ve had in recently I haven’t had to use any EQ.

Oh. Nice! I’d love to hear that Steve
