If you’ve seen any of my instructional videos, you’ll know that I’m NOT a fan of automating things that don’t absolutely NEED automation.
Sometimes though, you want to “go for the Grammy” on a delay on a vocal. Today’s play is going to show you how I do that without automating anything.

Very cool. This trick actually reduces work. I don’t know that much about Pro-tools yet but these tips are very informative. Thanks.
Glad to hear you say that Keith… shortcuts and plugins are different between different platforms, but these tricks ALL work for what you are working on…
Thanks for the comment Keith
Kevin,
Cool approach, leaves a some flexibly. I usually automate the fx but I will try this approach. Thanks for the cool tip!
Joseph Piccione
I agree. I think the less you automate, the more agile you can be at the last push to get the mix finished.
Thanks for the comment Joseph 🙂
Hey Kevin….Great tip!!! It was just what the doctor ordered on a mix I’m currently putting to bed. This effect is something I have tried to achieve in other ways but never quite managed to pull off.
This also sounds to me like one of those little secrets that all great mix engineers know but I didn’t!!!!
So thanks again…and I want you to know I’m sitting here with pen and paper ready for more!

Awesome Stone. Hope you get some mileage out of it. I know I have.. more stuff to come!
